Thorn Clarke St Kitts Single Vineyard Selection Malbec 2024

Share

Another in the Single Vineyard Selection program, from the north Barossa vineyard called St Kitts, this is definitely one of the most impressive Malbecs of the year (likely to remain so, even at this early stage). Maturation was in a mix of older French and American oak. 250 dozen made. Vibrant dark purple in colour, we have an array of aromas including plums, Christmas cherries, licorice, coffee grinds, blueberries and bay leaves. Lifted aromatics, an intense palate and excellent balance all combine in this beautifully crafted example of a grape that tends to be seen as a cameo blending component, rather than a variety which is worthy of its own solo event. On the palate, notes of charcuterie emerge. The wine has a seductive texture with good focus and excellent length. This is a cracking Malbec. Enjoy over the next ten to fifteen years.
