Tyrrells Vat 1 Semillon 2019

One of this country’s iconic wines, this Hunter Semillon is always a thrilling offering. From the team’s oldest Semillon blocks, dry grown and dating back to 1923, this is a wine of precision, which is pristine, poised and taut. 2019 was another fine vintage in the region. Deep straw, the nose gives us notes of spices, citrus, dry hay, lemon curd, florals and hints of beeswax. Expressive aromatics, there is good focus and bright energy here in this finely balanced wine with a fine line of acidity running the journey. Good length, there is still a decade and more ahead of it. Impressive.
