A challenging year in so many ways for Victorian vignerons and I, for one, am thrilled to see any 2020 wines being released.
I think the alcohol reading of just 12.5% indicates a deliberate early picking and for chardonnay that means a promotion of citrus over the more familiar tropical, stone fruits. It makes for a refreshing change. Honeysuckle, apple blossom, lemon balm scents aplenty.
It’s still early days for this just-bottled youngster but it is developing some pretty tasty citrus, lime and grapefruit flavours with apple across a palate that is linear in style.
