‘Gamut 2021 is a thirst-quenching medium-weight juicy red, perfect with a light chill. Made using 100% Upper Yarra Valley fruit, Merlot, and Pinot Noir. Naturally fermented, with no additions beyond sulphur prior to bottling. Unfined/Unfiltered/Vegan.’
This is a wine which is really easy to love. Despite being billed as an easy-drinking, chilled red, it has a surprising amount of heft, and even after three years, it’s still developing well and is in no danger of falling over just yet. The nose is very vivacious and pretty, throwing heaps of violets, red cherry and strawberry, plus some savoury tomato leaf and earth. From the first sip, its juiciness and brightness become quickly apparent, and the wine gels marvellously with food, whether it’s cheese or something spicy. I didn’t chill my bottle before tasting it, but chucking it in the fridge in summer would be highly recommended.
