Winebasket Nero d’Avola 2023

Share

A fine example of this emerging Italian variety, Nero d’Avola, from McLaren Vale, niftily presented in this covered two-litre flagon. That we are now seeing Nero presented in this manner is a bit exciting – it suggests that plantings have been reasonably extensive and with luck, it won’t be long before it is seen as a mainstream variety. Rich and robust, this has a vibrant purple hue. The nose gives us plums, black cherries, mulberries and dry herbs. A supple dense palate on display with silky tannins and good length so this would be a brilliant with a barbecue good value at that. Drink now and for the next couple of years.
