Wirra Wirra Yandra Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2024

A strong release, ticking the boxes for power, complexity, detail and length. A stubborn sheath of flinty reduction sits over white peach initially, with a substratum of fine, toasty cedar beneath. With air, the fruit emerges further — nectarine, ruby grapefruit and Meyer lemon filling things out. As the wine warms, leesy and saline notes appear, lending a sea-salt and focaccia savouriness. Once it all clicks into place, the perfume is impactful thanks to its complexity and power. The palate is textural and fulsome, striking a fine balance between power and detail — flint, peach, nectarine, sweet lemon, cedar and salt cracker. It surges across the mouth with mouth-coating authority before firm, chalky phenolics and lemony acidity draw everything into a linear, long finish. A fine release indeed.
