The Medlands Vineyard is situated at Dorrien on ancient soils that form the Barossa Valley floor. It’s home to warm conditions well-suited to showcasing typically bold, plush Barossa shiraz. Platinum brings those Barossan qualities to the glass. It’s packed in fine detail, too, with a focused core of blood plum, mulberry, black fruits, dried herbs and cedary oak with background notes of earth, leather and the gentlest application of spice. Do not expect a big, chunky Shiraz, this is more streamlined and refined by what many might consider typical Barossa standards. Here, the role of fine tannins is emphasised, gracing, bracing the fruit and producing a lasting impression of some elegance. Has time on its side.
