Trademark Mornington Peninsula cherry, berry fruits to the fore here with toasted oak spice, florals and a layer of herbs, leaf. A wine tale in two parts. Once opened it is spice fuelled, lively, juicy and bright in summer berries and spice, smooth fleshed with lacy, fine tannins that dance. A gentle blood orange peel note to close is so fresh. Day two and the scene changes ever so slightly. My notes speak of a gathering “brooding” quality, a deeper expression of what came before. Gotta say I liked both sides of the Red Claw Pinot story, day one and day two. This is a Pinot not short on personality.
