Yalumba The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Share

This is a wine with a hell of a lot of heritage and it is always made in a particular style. This is not oaky Coonawarra. It is also not the modern big, flashy, ripe Coonawarra. This is stripped down, classic Coonawarra where the cool climate and red soils express themselves in all their glory. And this is a great Menzies vintage.

Bright deep ruby – it is also classic Yalumba with its reserved style. There are the layers of cedar, pine needles and cigarbox overlaying red and black currant fruit matched up to some toasty oak. It is then compact and concentrated on the palate – only mid-weight but with fruit perfectly balanced with good acidity and plenty of fine tannins. Great youth and vitality promise a long and distinguished future, but it is also delicious right now.
