Aramis The Heir Syrah McLaren Vale 2015

Share

The Heir represents the estate’s best Shiraz vines coming of age and we have the opportunity to look at a vertical, dating back to this vintage. Not often one gets the chance to pick up a wine with a decade under its belt, especially for this price. Under Diam. A very dark red which only begins to pale at the very edge. The nose offers notes of mulberries, chocolate, plums, bay leaves, spices, a touch of balsamic and still evidence of some quality oak, which has integrated well. This is an attractive, plush style with bright acidity. Notes of licorice emerge on the palate and there is also some savouriness here. Finely balanced, with underlying power, this is well-crafted and with a lingering finish. This still has a good decade ahead of it.
