Bekkers Grenache 2021

Toby and Emmanuelle Bekkers offer a masterclass in blending with this Grenache made with fruit from four vineyards in Blewitt Springs (2), Kangarilla and the Onkaparinga Hills, with altitudes ranging from 98m – 244m which gives the wines a unique blend of richness and delicacy. There is lovely purity, reserve and subtlety to this vintage with wafts of red cherry, dried herbs and potpourri underscored by chocolatey richness. There is then an almost Pinot-like satiny texture with flavours of dried raspberry, red licorice and aged meat which linger beautifully thanks to a gentle core of drying tannins, fruit concentration on the reserved side. It’s already delicious to drink but promises to hold over the medium term.
