Boulder Fields Macedon Ranges Syrah 2023

Share

A chameleon of a wine, which starts off overtly fruity but turns savoury as it breathes in the glass. It presents beautiful, primary aromas of mulberry and red and black cherry, plus some tomato leaf and beetroot, with tertiary characters of cola, earth and game. Despite the relatively low alcohol, there’s no hint of greenness, with loads of acid, and some slight tanginess on the tongue. It’s a nice wine for sipping by itself or pairing with rich, chilli-infused dishes. Like the Pinot, I think it needs a bit more time in the bottle but it’s hard to go past it right now.
