Not your usual powerhouse of a Chardonnay, but rather subtle and reserved at this early stage. Perhaps it’s a feature of the year which saw significant rain events during February in the lead up to vintage. Who knows? Perhaps it’s the vineyard sourcing. Whatever the reason, the usual plushness is replaced by a tight, well-structured Chardonnay driven in large part by bracing acidity. Layered in between are citrus, white peach and pear purity of fruit expression with grapefruit pithiness. Remains tightly coiled so needs a little more time.
