Chalk Hill Titan Shiraz 2021

I must admit that I usually avoid drinking Shiraz, as it often feels a bit too heavy handed for my taste. However, discovering a wine with such a vinosity is a real treasure. From the moment I opened it, the wine greeted me with expressive notes of fresh dark cherry, violet, and crushed pepper. I paired it with homemade beef teriyaki, a dish I love cooking. The strong, salty, and textural sauce complements the wine beautifully, coating the al dente carrots, green beans, and red onions in the recipe. The crushed walnuts on top further enhance the dish’s appeal. On the palate, the wine flows vibrantly, revealing complex notes of ground coffee as it finishes. The tannins are refined and precisely balanced, contributing to a succulent, sweet-fruited profile. The combination with the food is delightful, with the crunchy textures enhancing the overall experience. This wine is truly delicious, showcasing the greatness of the vintage with its freshness, liveliness, and superb drinkability. Its sleek personality makes it worthy of a revisit, even though Shiraz is not usually my preference.
