Chapel Hill The MV McLaren Vale Mourvèdre 2022

Share

Mourvèdre – aka, Mataro – is one of those handy red grapes that Australian winemakers tend to work hard in blends. So, it’s refreshing when a maker actually celebrates its individuality. Long-time Chapel Hill winemaker, Michael Fragos, does a mighty job with the grape. Deep, youthful purple hues. A savoury introduction in aromas of game, black olive and black fruits. That savoury vibe continues on the palate. To loosen it up, give the wine a swish of air or even a decant, and watch the emergence of bramble, black cherry, loganberry and lovely spice in conjunction with earth and roasted meats. Perfect for that weekend barbecue.
