Château Tanunda The Château Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

The Cabernet vines used here are from an estate vineyard in the Eden Valley, 32 select rows. After fermentation, the wine spends a year and a half in a mix of new and older French oak barrels. 2,800 cases. A deep garnet, the nose is full of blackberries, tobacco leaves, dark berries, dried herbs, a little chocolate and fresh coffee grinds. For a relatively warmer climate (certainly, Eden Valley is a little cooler than if it had come directly from the Barossa), this has surprising and pleasing elegance. There is a seductive texture, medium length and fine tannins. Drink over the next six to eight years.
