Although this was quite a challenging season, the wine has emerged as a triumph of good management and careful planning. It’s a delicate wine, but that can be deceptive because within, there is a powerful penetration through the palate. The aromas are quite floral, with light nectarine-like characters. The palate has a crisp, slightly waxy feel to it. But then it gathers momentum and drives with purpose through to a precise long finish. That slightly savory edge on the finish completes an excellent wine.

From 1989 Ray wrote more than 3000 columns as a regular newspaper wine columnist. He currently writes a regular column for the special business publication Business News and is one of the main contributors to national wine platform Wine Pilot.
