Esilio Cellar Reserve Shiraz 2022

Out of the rolling hills above Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs, north again from One Tree Hill, east of Munno Para but not within the boundaries of either the neighbouring Barossa or nearby Adelaide Hills regions, hence its wider appellation of Mt Lofty Ranges. “Cellar Reserve” classically indicates a bigger, traditional Shiraz style, and there’s no shirking that here, as this is big, and it is traditional in the sense that there’s a generous mocha and vanilla rounding out of its dark fruit core, the oak prominent yet the fruit holding its own, together coalescing and concentrating into a well built, handsome, full-bodied and muscular Shiraz. With all that going on in the glass, it’s worth noting this is never clumsy, and more soft-hearted than heavy, a Shiraz style for those who love the big time as well as a good time.
