Heathcote has become a popular spot for Italian varietals such as Sangiovese (there’s also a GKLR Nebbiolo now available) and there’s definitely scope for many more. The 2022 shows lovely red cherry and raspberry fruit, with a touch of cedar, and some tertiary earth and balsamic. The body, acid and tannin are all medium, with bright fruit presenting itself right from the beginning, and dusty tannins developing after some air, when the fruit then becomes darker and a bit richer. You could cellar this for a few more years but it’s already drinking really well.
