Dark fruited and brooding, with black cherry, sweet biscuity oak, mocha, blackberry and plum leading to tilled earth, black pepper, black liquorice and flickers of leather. The palate has a sluice of vibrant fruit akin to the nose sitting forward, with supporting roles from dark spice and Christmas cake. The tannins have a stacked and grainy feel while carrying some bitter mocha-like tones and putting up a frame for a finish of solid length. A textbook Filsell — the riper, more muscular Barossa style executed with confidence and enough structural integrity to justify a decade in the cellar.
