Greenock Creek Stone Block Shiraz 2019

Share

The 2019 Greenock Creek Stone Block Shiraz took a little time to come around with the ripe, warm vintage making a chunky, rich wine that does need some air to show its best. On day 1 the Stone Block, made with fruit sourced from Moppa, showed lashings of dark fruit and oak but on day 2 it displayed so much more. Choc blueberry fruits, new leather and baked earth too wrapped up in a blanket of cuddly, coconut-scented oak. The palate is then hearty and dense – fleshy blackberry fruit, with a touch of raisining, has good impact and intensity before finishing long and supple. Tannins are quite open knit so it will drink well over the medium term. It’s got Moppa written all over it.
