Harewood Estate Tunney Riesling 2021

Share

A new starter from Harewood Estate with this the first vintage from a small vineyard near the town of Tunney, at the top of the Frankland River region. It’s the most northerly vineyard in the whole Great Southern and 100 kilometres from the ocean, giving the warmest days but also the coolest nights. It’s quite an individual style and more savoury than the rest of the Harewood range.

Pale in colour, there is an exotic fruit lift with guava and nectarine aromas topped with some almost claylike earthy complexity. It is followed by what is a dry and quite rich palate for Riesling with a gently creamy texture well supported by fine acidity. There is understated power here too and good balance suggesting this wine will build more interest with a couple more years in bottle.
