Henschke Hill of Roses Single Vineyard Shiraz 2021

Share

Hill of Roses is, in simple terms, Hill of Grace in waiting. Fruit is sourced off a 32-year-old single block at the Hill of Grace vineyard and is in readiness to work up to the level of Hill of Grace but is considered still too young.  It’s a wine to be enjoyed for a liveliness of stunning, penetrating aromatics that fill every centimetre bar for the equally enthusiastic presence of black and red berries. Deep red hues. Fragrant and youthful in rose petals, lilac, Aussie bush notes, sage, anise, black cherries, plum, cassis. No new oak here, maturation was in 100% seasoned French oak which gives space to the free expression of the fruit and the spice and those gorgeous aromatics. It carries its ripeness of fruit nicely, this remains medium-bodied, and tannins are fine allowing for a faultlessly elegant, deceptively powerful expression of Shiraz from the Eden Valley.
