33% Counoise, 16% Shiraz, 14% Grenache, 13% Grenache Gris, 11% Carignan, 8% Clairette, 5% Cinsault. Named in honour of Prue Henschke, The Nurturer is a seven-variety Southern Rhône blend sourced from her trial plantings in the Henschke Home Gardens Vineyard. Pale, translucent ruby. Plum, red cherry, redcurrant and raspberry lead the perfume with violets not far behind, brown spice and ground nutmeg in the mix, and some bush garrigue-like herb notes adding further Southern Rhône sensibility. The palate has a slippery feel, with a core of similar red fruits sitting high in the mouth and spice and violet tones dancing around the edges. Very supple and elegant, with the finish delicate but adequately structured thanks to some chalky tannins and a wash of bright acidity. High drinkability alongside lovely, charming complexity.
