This is the top Pinot from Holm Oak and it’s a product of a slightly cooler year, which has contributed to its delightful, elegant delicacy. Yet that can be slightly deceptive, as there’s a real depth and flavour intensity here. The clonal mix was adjusted to handle the cooler season, and then it was matured in about half new French oak for a little over a year. Aromas of plum and cherry with some spicy characters and a lift of African violet. The palate is so keenly balanced with fine chalky acidity, fine tannins, precisely delivered oak, and lovely fruit drive and persistence. It’s a classically defined Pinot in that there is power in abundance, but it is delivered with such elegance and poise.
