Sourced mostly from Wilyabrup, this sees 50% French oak (10% new) and 50% stainless steel. Soft aromas of grapefruit and white nougat lead, followed by dehydrated lime, pear, flickers of cedar and a hint of flint. The palate delivers a bright burst of fruit – lime, peach, white grapefruit, lemon peel and pear – underpinned by subtle cedar and flint. There’s a chalky grip to the sides and an ample wash of citrus to close. It doesn’t reach for great complexity or power, but it’s a Chardonnay that speaks clearly of Margaret River, and it delivers strong regional character at a fair price.
