The Single Vineyard in question here is 385m high in the Eden Valley and in 2021 it produced an intricate, complex and layered wine. Starts out in aromas of undergrowth, earth, black fruits and gentle spices, and then it takes off on the palate. Explores herbs and a warm, autumnal leafiness with plums, cassis and black fruits, red liquorice and a rich, sweet spiciness. It offers a pure expression of Cabernet, silky textured, firm but fine in tannin, and while the wine saw 19 months in French barriques (25% new), the oak is in total harmony. This is a wine full of presence in the glass.
