Joseph River Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Share

Big hearted and generous, this five-year-old Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon is looking mighty smart right now. The producer has done right by the vintage and style, releasing it with some bottle age but, still, it would love a decant or swish or three. In fact, the second day after opening probably brought a little more precision and clarity to the beauty of the fruit. Blackberry, blackcurrant, intense and concentrated, join loganberry, baking spices, chocolate, with just a touch of regional bay leaf and some gently savoury, smoked goods notes. The fruit in harmony with a gentle herbal interplay is the real star of this wine, just lovely. Tannins are sapid but fine and well-placed assisting in structure, but far from interrupting the flow and length of the wine and it goes long. A strong, classy Margs Cabernet.
