A reserve wine that lives up to its name. As a five-year-old, it impresses with its youthful vitality and emerging complexity. This wine is only starting its journey and it’s got a while to go but, in the meantime, it is offering so, so much. Rest assured 2020 was a top year, hence, the aromatic lift of aromas in black berries, black plum, loganberry and dried herbs. The alcohol might suggest a big wine and while there is a density of plush ripe fruit it is enlivened by a lovely thread of leafy herbals in harmony with spice, quality oak and earth, trimmed and well-shaped in fine, firm tannins. It is a joy to see a Margaret River Cabernet released with some age under its belt and looking so darn good. And it’s on the upward ascent with undoubtedly the best still to come.
