Kilikanoon Ashton 1920 Mataro 2021

Comes from a dry-grown vineyard planted in 1920. These old vines can really deliver, certainly with these Rhône varieties. The wine was treated with kid gloves and made largely by hand with open fermentation, hand plunging and maturation in French oak It brings out the beautiful mix of dark fruits with a lift of spices and herbs. The palate is sublime with a dusty rusty character complementing the vibrant medium weight fruit. Outstanding.
