Does it matter what grape goes into a rosé? Yes and no. Killerman’s Run rosé is a good case in point. There is no mention of the grape on the label, and it’s okay because once you clap eyes on that colour – a vibrant confection pink – you’re in. Strawberry, sour cherry, honeydew melon scents with just a hint of savoury marzipan-almond. Keeps things dry right across the palate with a fair degree of acid cut – very cleansing and bright – just what you need leading into warmer weather. Flavours embrace Summer berries, spice and acacia herbals. A solid, well-priced rosé made for the table with a light texture and good length. And while the grape variety here remains a mystery, the wine speaks for itself.
