Love the name! Haven vineyard is named after the most sheltered of Kooyong’s sites, that is, away from the Mornington Peninsula’s often harsh winds. Sourced off 24-year-old vines, it celebrates the fruit (no whole bunches here) and, as such, is allowed full fruit expression with an aromatic intensity and brightness of red berries, earth, leafy herbs and woody spices. It is so engaging before you get to even taste the wine. The palate has real depth and generosity in warm, textural tones as the wine just glides over the tongue. And there is persistence towards the finish with some well-crafted tannins leading the way. This is all about the purity of fruit with some classy winemaking on show.
