The Mountain View site, grown by Tom and Helle Southwell in Tumbraumba, sits at 765m in elevation on free draining red podzolic granite soils. Whole bunch pressed the juice divided between concrete and French oak on solids and wild yeasts. 100% malolactic fermentation occurred. This is much more opulent than you might give the region credit for, for the site has offered up Alphonse mango, yellow peach and guava in line with Tumbarumba’s brisk pace of acidity. What works well is the peach melba and apricot yoghurt familiar characters, that stay for long moments with some vanilla and nutmeg spice to round things out. A Chardonnay of spirit and style. Drink now, don’t forget the cheesy cob loaf for sharing.
