Ottelia Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

First sniff: I lean back and mutter, “Owff, beautiful.” Two things confirmed: I talk to myself, and this wine smells good. Raspberry purée, tart plums, dried bark. Still Coonawarra Cabernet, but lighter on its feet. More Facebook was around when I was at school than how do you turn this thing on again. A little bratty, in the best way. Tannins are but a whisper, framing the wine lightly. Medium body at most. Bright, bouncy fruit gives way to dried bay leaf, warm wild strawberries and more youthful exuberance. Plenty of collagen in this one. Drink now, preferably with San Daniele prosciutto and a hot date with kind eyes.
