Penny’s Hill Yeenunga Grenache 2023

Share

There’s restrained aromatic power here, seemingly aching to unfurl. And it does in the form of sun warmed sand and sea salt making way for strawberry, raspberry, red plum and sarsaparilla. Excellent depth and restraint on show with some brown spice, dusty wood and earth emerging with a swirl of the glass, as does a glimmer of garrigue like herbs. The palate is mid-weight, even and poised with a creaminess to the texture. Raspberry, cranberry, dark cherry, brown spice, and earth are framed by a good hit of chalky tannins providing a frame on which to carry long to an earthy finish. There’s still a tightness to this wine, and it’s all there to unleash with 10+years in the cellar. An excellent Grenache with complexity and structure in spades.
