The Other Wine Co Shiraz Pinot Noir 2019

Share

Shiraz and Pinot Noir have a bit of a history in the Hunter Valley, north of Sydney. But you’d have to think this is the first example ever to match Shiraz from the Adelaide Hills with Tasmanian Pinot. To be honest I approached this wine with a bit of caution – this could go one of two ways.

And it was a………hit! A great little wine that starts out savoury and earthy with clove, aged meat, and white pepper spice of Adelaide Hills Shiraz matched up with some Pinot rhubarb and Chinese five spice. It’s then dry, surprisingly hearty and powerful – with great depth of fruit and drinkability. It is a cracking winter wine for an open fire with nuances, twists and turns, and a bit of an adventure too. Long and quite powerful with some chalky tannins, it will get better over the next five years.
