Pipers Brook Reserve Pinot Noir 2018

Share

This is the not often seen Pipers Brook Reserve Pinot Noir – a Tasmanian rarity that generally disappears quickly after release. It was for a long time the pride of Tasmanian Pinot in a distinctly savoury, spicy and earthy, almost brooding style thanks to cool vineyard sites, and nothing has changed in 2018. This is still a wine that gets a whole lot better with a little effort to dive deep into its more delicate corners.

It is bright mid cherry red in colour and immediately fragrant, pretty, fine and detailed with raspberry and spice underpinned by almost rustic and understated mushroom consume and earthy aromas. It is then dry, mid-weight and acid driven, with delicious dark and red fruits slowly emerging and that spice coming back for an encore. It’s supple and an earlier drinking style that also has a lingering and subtle finish making it ideal for a creamy mushroom risotto.
