There’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, and then there’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. About a quarter of the wine was fermented and aged in French oak, bringing a complex and deep textural feel. It was also aged on lees before final blending, adding another layer of complexity with a slightly flinty, gunmetal character. It’s a complex wine with lifted scented citrus and light stone fruit, but with that fine minerally acidity adding a keen edge to the palate. A twist of lemon and a little sea spray add further to an appealing wine.
