Salomon Estate Finniss River Sea Eagle Vineyard Shiraz 2020

Share

Dr Bert Salomon is renowned for his white wines out of Austria’s Wachau Valley, where the River Danube heads west from Vienna. He also loves the classic red wines of South Australia, this Shiraz from his Southern Hemisphere enterprise, the Salomon Estate vineyards, set beside a classic Australian gum lined creek facing the Southern Ocean, where the Sea Eagle vineyard is a high point tempered by the ocean’s cool afternoon southerlies. Polar opposite of his Austrian homeland family vineyards. The fruit is exceptional if this is any proof, as it has spent 18 months in smaller French oak barrels, 30% new, and still exudes prominent crimson to black berry flavours above all else, the oak evident though more as a spice note rather than any heavily wooded impact. Rich, vibrant and very appealing modern Australian Shiraz.
