Sittella Grand Prestige Late Disgorged Blanc de Blancs 2010

Who says Western Australia doesn’t make serious sparkling wine? Give them a bottle of Sittella’s late disgorged Blanc de Blancs and watch their eyes pop open. A 2010 vintage with twelve years on lees, the nose is a heady journey through waves of autolytic characteristics, coupled with well-timed glimpses of freshness. Toasted brioche, caramelised blanched hazelnut, apple pie crust and poached pear with clove and cinnamon quill. The palate is a rush of intensity, invigorating at first, swiftly followed by long, thoughtful delivery of a breadth of flavour and texture, and held in check by an elegant acid line. A creamy mousse and a fine effervescence, it’s like layers of gossamer being whisked over the tounge. Opulent notes of cascading ripe yellow peaches, fuzzy peach skin, citrus florals, spice, creamy crushed toasted cashews and a gentle sea salt note lingering in the background. What. A. Wine.
