This wine is made from fruit off the Teakle property in Port Lincoln which has a soil combination of rich combination of sandy loam topsoil overlying a friable red-brown clay loam subsoil. Black olive, dark plum, cedar and wafts of vanilla bean lead the aromas, with further notes of tobacco, mulch and subtle bay leaf with air. It’s quite elegant and inviting. The palate is medium bodied and laced with bitter mocha and dark chocolate notes that intertwine nicely with plum, blackberry, mulberry, vanilla and black olive again. It’s nicely ripe and cool fruited with a frame of fine grainy tannins providing shape through a finish of medium length. There’s good value on display here. Nicely done.
