Thorn Clarke St Kitts Single Vineyard Selection Shiraz 2023

The Single Vineyard Selection program allows winemakers to play with small batch production from special sites that are particularly suited to vintage conditions. This one comes from the Estate’s most northerly vineyard in the Barossa. It spends a year and a half maturing in old oak before bottling. There is much to like. 300 dozen. Dark cherry/bruised plum in colour, we have notes of chocolate, cold tea, mocha, handfuls of warm earth and cocoa powder. This is plush with excellent extract, ripe and dense. The palate sees the emergence of roast meat notes and there is a line of juicy acidity. Some serious promise here and the wine will drink impressively for the next ten to fifteen years.
