A stylish and exquisitely crafted Grenache from this outstanding sub-region within McLaren Vale. It always produces wine of such finesse and restraint, yet within it is the intensity and drive that is part of this region. Some whole bunches went in here, and it was naturally fermented with only light pressings included. The oak treatment was reasonably subdued in 500-litre French oak and stainless steel punctions for about 9 months, so the oak never intrudes, but it provides that important structural and complexing addition. Perfumed, highly scented aromas and a palate that springs from the glass with its vibrancy and energy. Lots of red fruits, spices, roses, a touch of varietal earthiness and that final lift of raspberry-like cherry character. Terrifically appealing wine.
