Vinea Marson Nebbiolo 2016

Glistening garnet highlights in the glass hint at the age but there’s still so much freshness – red plums, macerated strawberries, and compressed watermelon make up the fruit spectrum. There’s the ethereal aroma of pressed rose petals, and the earthiness of roasted beetroot and leather. It is rich with a lovely ripe-fruited weight, and mouthfilling spice. At six years old the tannins offer solid structure without dominating, fleshed out with baked rhubarb, an ironstone minerality, and meat jus umami. I drank this with a rich mushroom ragu pasta and the only thing I would change is to add some truffles on top.
