Water Wheel Grenache 2024

Share

Smoky plum, woodsmoke, rhubarb, raspberry, clove, cinnamon, red liquorice and bark-like earth on the nose. The palate delivers juicy, sweet-fruited notes of raspberry compote, plum and Bing cherry, with liquorice and baking spice — cinnamon, cassia bark, clove — dancing in support. Gentle chalky tannins frame a spicy, red-fruited finish of medium length. The wine feels heady and open-knit, its immense spiciness the dominant character, though a thread of freshness weaves through it all — helped along by a breezy 12.6% ABV. A nicely executed release at a very modest price point.
