This is a classic French Fumé style, which after hand-picking, was matured in French oak, and that is clearly evident on the nose and on the palate. Adds a smoky, savory, and slightly nutty nuance to the vibrant fruit, with a palate that delivers with richness and texture. The key is that the oak doesn’t dominate. It still allows the fruit to penetrate and is a key feature of the wine. The oak really adds that finishing touch of complexity and textural feel to the wine. It’s a light-bodied wine, which is fairly typical of this vintage.
