Woodlands Margaret Cabernet Merlot Malbec 2017

Good to see Malbec getting a run in wines such as this to give density and staying power. Deep crimson in colour, it instantly displays beautifully pristine Margaret River Cabernet aromas of red currants and violets, with ripe dark cherry also in the mix plus gentle cedar and a sheen of high quality French oak. It is then still beautifully bright on the palate despite its five years of age and showcases a riper style of Margaret River with plush open knit inky, black olive fruits and fine balanced tannins on the lighter side before delivering a long and supple finish. It will live for a while yet but probably now close to its peak.
