Five Spanish/Portuguese red grape varieties combine, and the marriage made in Great Western brings forth some pretty impressive savoury oomph. Graciano, Grenache, Tinta Cão, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional make a fine bunch of like-minded red buddies. There’s plenty of love, spice and red fruited talent to go around in what is essentially a rustic-edged, earthy country wine with class. Baking spices aplenty combine with briar and earth, cherry and plum with additional notes of game and charcuterie. Oak isn’t shy, stepping up on the middle palate and finish. Savoury tannins complete this textural, sweet fruited, savoury red which is mighty tasty.
