Margaret River Shiraz remains one of our most underrated styles. Its problem stems largely from the fact that varieties like Chardonnay and Cabernet have stolen the limelight. As any serious music fan knows, you simply can’t have too many front men- it just doesn’t work. So Marg River Shiraz is likely to remain in the shadows for some time yet. Take advantage. It means that it rarely has the same price tag as Cabs of similar quality. This has a deep purple colour, its nose runs through a range of aromas, including a hint of eucalyptus, dried herbs, raspberries, cherries and leather even a hint of chocolate. There are fine tannins on show and the intensity is maintained for the full journey. Excellent length, this is a fine example of the style and will provide pleasure for the next eight to twelve years.
