A superb Wallcliffe release. Captures the Bordeaux white blend style with pitch perfect precision. Opens up with snow pea, green bean, cut grass aromatics in tandem with green apple and a lime cordial-like intensity. Restraint is everything and with it comes a sophisticated purity of fruit expression. A light coating of barrel-derived complexity on the palate lends an almond skin mealiness – an added extra dimension – to the wine. Crisply cut throughout in gooseberry, herbals, asparagus spears, citrus, waxy lemon, apple and showing an almost equal partnership of the two grapes: Sauvignon blanc (56%) and Semillon (44%). Finishing dry and bright, this is one smart wine.
